01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A short walk from Kasuga and Korakuen stations in a corner of Koishikawa, Enmaya (えんまや) is a welcoming izakaya with an air of comfortable nostalgia. Inside, counter seating framing the kitchen and standard tables are joined by tatami-floored zashiki space where diners can stretch out, accommodating solo meals just as easily as lively groups.

Hearty Lunch Sets Built to Satisfy

Arriving around midday means being greeted by generous teishoku set meals and rice bowls designed to leave you thoroughly full. Deep-fried staples take center stage, including classic tonkatsu pork cutlets, fragrant fried chicken karaage, crispy ebi katsu shrimp cutlets, and hearty vegetable croquettes. With katsu curry served with salad, standard curry rice, and even a maguro butsu (cut tuna chunks) set meal on hand, choosing what to eat is part of the appeal.

Small Plates and Poured Drinks for the Evening

During dinner hours, the tables fill with affordable drinking snacks that pair naturally with a round of drinks. Comforting slow-simmered motsu nikomi offal stew shares space with easy-to-nibble bites like crispy ham cutlets, chunky vegetable croquettes, and crab cream croquettes, ideal for ordering a spread to share. The drinks menu offers plenty of variety, featuring citrusy fresh lemon sours, green tea highballs, draft beer, Hoppy sets, and even nostalgic apple wine.

To close out the night, savory sauce yakisoba, fragrant grilled onigiri, and warming dashi-topped ochazuke offer a soothing, comfortable finish to the visit.
